REGULATORY LIAISON SERVICES
Regulatory requirements are getting more and more complicated and the agencies that can have an impact on your drinking water and/or wastewater system is also growing. Add to this third-party lawsuits by citizen groups or individuals for violations of state or federal regulations.
A trailer court in Idaho was recently sued by the Idaho Conservation League for violations of the Clean Water Act and was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine to the group. That same trailer court was also sued by a citizens group and was ordered to pay fines in the amount of $200,000. This trailer court legal issues had nothing to do with state or federal government but the hurt was the same. The sad thing is that this could have all been prevented.
Drinking water and wastewater systems on the whole are not regulatory experts and they must rely on the expertise of others to stay in good standings with the regulatory community(ies). Shaffers Engineering and Consulting provides that expertise and allows systems to take more control of their destinies.
